About Us
Innovation
The Limitless (K) Ltd Fruit Farming team is known to be early adopters of new technology and methodologies.
Examples include:
-moving from a single focus on producing high volumes to high-quality fruit, to satisfy the requirements of premium brands for higher returns,
-introducing precision farming early on,
-introducing low-flow irrigation (Indigo was one of the first farms in South Africa to embrace this approach), which has shown significant water usage reductions through more efficient management,
The Orange Fruit
considering the time-value of money by planting different varieties in tramlines (two to a ridge in a zigzag fashion) to test their performance over the shortest period of time, and
-challenging the status quo with high-density plantings. Whereas the industry standard was ±435 trees per hectare, the successful Indigo standard currently stands at 1 666 trees per hectare, with new developments going to 2 222 trees per hectare.
-expansive netting of orchards yielding significant production results by protecting fruit against hail damage and wind scarring, and high radiation during summer. Currently, some 30% of its citrus plantings are under netting.
-ensure that only the best quality fruit are packed for our premium brands and clients (per
programme, per customer) our packhouses use the latest technology for high throughput based on automation enabling us to grade fruit per colour, blemishes, brix and acids.
